30 JULY – 1 OCTOBER 2016
Aim:
To organise a memorable event to celebrate the centenary of the publication of John Dewey’s book, “Democracy and Education”. The event spanned 4 days, with 150 international delegates attending, and was hosted at two different venues incorporating a conference with keynote sessions, 10 parallel sessions running concurrently, panel sessions, and conference gala dinners.
Details:
I came on board to manage initial programming, venue liaison, managing all speaker and delegate communications, sourcing and organising delegate materials such as cloth delegate bags and USB cards, and booking accommodation. Working with the Conference Steering Committee throughout the planning stages, I was also responsible for briefing and managing staff onsite (AV, registration and catering), as well as handling all sponsors, from writing sponsorship proposals to managing sponsorship deliverables at the event.
Result:
The four day conference proved to be a memorable and engaging event for all that attended, with a smooth running programme and interesting social opportunities.
Feedback:
“From the moment Samantha was on board we felt the weight off our shoulders”
“Samantha has done all we have asked of her with great efficiency and taken responsibility for looking ahead and anticipating upcoming challenges”
“The conference was highly successful and received particular praise for its organisation and hospitality – which is due to Samantha”
